New federal ammo
-
I guess I am skeptical, but how does a soft synthetic jacket keep your gun cleaner than a copper jacket? Seems like it would gum up in the rifling and cause more trouble than good. I know some guys have been coating lead bullets with powder coating, but that seems harder than this jacket. I don't know...it might work.
Also...I rarely clean my glocks as it is...so how much benefit can this really have?
-
I think to often people think of plastic as being weak. There are some really really strong polymers.
That said I have no idea what is on this stuff.
The prices I've seen are on par with regular ammunition. So no advantage there.
Julie Golob did a 1000 round range session cleaning ever 250 rounds.
Here is the first video.
-
Yep. It is the heat that would concern me with the plastics. And I go more than 250 rounds between cleanings.
-
I shot off a box of 50 a month or two back so I could have an opinion on it.
It shot like crap in my G19. It fed and fired ok (duh it's a Glock), but it wouldn't group. I was getting a six inch spread in five shots at 10 yards.
It didn't seem dirty, but I only fired 50 rounds, and I haven't cleaned the gun yet.
I can't justify spending the same money for worse performance. I'm going to stick with copper jackets for the time being.
-
Anyone else getting tired of seeing heavily make-up'd girls with daddy issues marketing shit?
It's getting so I can't even watch anything with any of them in it.
-
So I actually went back and watched the video. Why would one introduce a second variable in a test such as this? She should have shot with the competition gun that she was familiar with and knew how it preformed. All this test does is tell one how this ammo shoots in that particular gun...not how it shoots in comparison to other ammo.
I will tell you why she didn't use her competition gun. She didn't want to put 1000 rounds of this junk through her competition gun!

@orkan Julie Golob is a very accomplished shooter.
But yeah in general I agree
-
@dddoo7 could be, who knows she's sponsored by Federal I believe so I doubt she'll say anything bad regardless.

Accomplished WOMENS DIVISION shooter.
... that aside, I think the amount of makeup these modern women wear is disgusting.
-
@orkan as I said I agree with you, though I think it was that she's a accomplished shooter and she's viewed as hot by many.
Frankly I'm not a fan of most advertising, especially the ones that feature scantily clad women, although the worst advertisement I've watched is still probably Silencerco's about their pistols man that was awful.
But I have a feeling we're in the minority so we'll continue to see it.

If you have a product worth selling, then the facts will sell the product. There will be no need for gimmicks to attract one to that product.
Case in point...Tab Gear. Quality products that sell themselves. Tony sure isn't attractive enough in his videos to sell them.
However...people today are more concerned with Hype than with facts and reality. 98% Hype and 2% facts sells products better than 100% facts. Our world is like this in almost every aspect. I struggle with preaching...because very few people want Bible facts anymore...they would rather 98% hype and 2% facts.
If Federal was concerned with facts...they would have tested accuracy from a vice, they would have shot out at least one barrel with the new ammo...and their comparable copper jacketed ammo for a true comparison. They would have preformed quantifiable cleaning and heat tests between the two types of ammo. And...they would have gotten a third party, reliable, well known person to do the testing...not their own paid competitor who gets her bread and butter from federal.

And that's why I appreciate places like this, and @orkan.
Seems like every other place you have to wade through bullshit, people making comments and proclaiming thinges even though they've never held the product. People who wrote articles who are not being given free prodcuts to write a review on them.

Exactly. I still participate in other forums as far as giving advice...but if I have a question I ask it here.

I'm a mod on the other site and I ask my questions here. At least here I don't have to deal with all the fairies needing a safe space with @orkan is blunt with someone.
