Gunbroker deals

Figured we could have a place we could share gunbroker deals.
Here's a currently cheap 308 bolt face R700.

And another.

40x 22lr action.

Just a heads-up about that 40X action. It's a older 40X... not a 40XB, so it isn't compatible with most standard rem700 triggers or stocks. Some metal work and inletting will need to be performed, especially around the tang area, unless you go with a trigger that doesn't have a safety.
I won't comment on the conversion hardware. ;)
-
@orkan I was wondering about that, seemed to good to be true.
-
This one has just under 17 hours to go and isn't at a bad price yet.

Howa 1500 7mm-08, it's a lightweight barrel however, but right now it's half the cost of a Barreled action.
-
This one is up in 45 minutes, to expensive for a donor action, but it would be a great hunting rifle I bet, looks beautiful.

Here is a really cool 40x. It has had a lot of work done to it. I don't know the guy selling it and can't vouch for him...but the price is not bad considering all the parts included. He is in the panhandle of flordia

The magazines are worth $100 each.
Too much for it though.

$1450 Remington 40x 22lr
I've been looking for a 22lr trainer for a couple of months. Something about being able to shoot all day at short ranges to learn appeals to me. Not sure if this is the "right type" of 40x but it's marked USMC and I thought that's kinda cool.
Ultimately I'm expecting to spend a little more to have it worked up the way I want.
-
Check serials if you can. Ask Orkan which ones. I think it has to be an XB suffix to drop into the R700 short action stocks.
-
'
-
Round bolt knob usually means it is an older model (not an xb). They will work just fine...but will require a little extra machining. Orkan can elaborate.
This also appears to be a sporter model. I would rather have the heavy barrel if it were me.
-
I think it would need a new stock, rail, probably trigger. I'd like that repeater option if that's possible too.
I figure a barrel is on the list.I finally hit that point, where I've given up on doing "cheap", in favor of "right" or "perfect"
I'll get Gregs input on it and based on that I may pick it up.
-
The main thing is that the tang needs machined to clear a rem700 trigger safety. It's not a big deal. I just worked on an "A" model like that for a guy that shot tiny TINY bug holes at 50yds with the factory trigger, which was excellent.
Remington used to make nice rifles. ;)
-
Damn freedom group!
Well I think I'm interested.
For the uninitiated, how does that price compare to what I should be paying?
Is it possible to make this one a repeater, or am I limited to single shot?
And, assuming I do pick this one up, what can I expect to pay to have this it finished up?

It's right in line with what they go for these days. It's a pretty nice looking rifle.

It's "possible." Though we are only doing these for very select people.

Finished up? I guess it all depends on what you want done with it.
-
I just found your post from last year over on scout regarding the conversions. I realize the window has since closed, any possibility of that opening again in the future or finding me a spot on that list?
I'm going to try to pick this one up, I already have the manners stock I'd like to put it in.

There's always possibilities. However, do not buy it based on the premise we will convert it.
-
You converted one for me and it is awesome. I have since acquired another 40X so if you need a couple to do to make it worth the time, I would do it on the new one in a heartbeat.
-
I noticed the rifle sold. Did you get it?
-
Yessir.
I'm barrel shopping now, looking for a heavy barrel replacement and trying to figure out what I need to have manners do to my stock to make it compatible with the 40X action

Why not see how it shoots before swapping barrels?
-
Well of course, but the intent is for it to become a tactical trainer eventually.
If I change it, I'll probably next year, but I have a comically large almost 15 inch length of pull, so in order for me to shoot prone comfortably a stock change is in order
-
Is it a sporter barrel or heavy barrel? It is kind of hard to tell from the pics?
I am making a tactical trainer out of mine and the original barrel shot well enough that I kept it.
-
Its a "standard weight barrel"
Its also 28 inches long which seems a little unwieldyI'm sure it'll be a nice bench gun in its current configuration
-
Have it cut and threaded. That is what I had done to mine.
-
@dddoo7
You just had it cut back and recrowned from a standard weight?
That would be preferable to buying a whole new one. I'll have to see how it shoots before I try that. Also I need to send my stock off to manners tomorrow or Tuesday to have it opened up, what type of inlet is needed to fit a 40x?
-
40x is the same inlett as a 700. That is the beauty of the 40x over a win 52.
I think my barrel was the heavy contour. You would need about .600 minimum to thread it.
-
Here's another 40x 22lr
Check out what I found on GunBroker.com!

One may be an x b but the blond is still a bitch..oh I get it Xtra Bitch.

Amended. Dang phone.
-
Here's a interesting action if anyone is looking to clone a m40.
-
The M40 used a trued R700 style action if I recall correctly.
Although it would make sense. M40-40X......
-
This is a good looking rifle for the price.
-
Not on Gun Brooker but still a deal.

Not on gunbroker, but a good deal on a bench source. Good way to start annealing. 400 bucks barely used.
Not my post ans I don’t know the guy, but I thought I’d share.
