Finally got a new scope
-
I've been shopping around and weighing the options in my head for a while now. I didn't get every little feature I wanted, but I got a great deal on a scope that will aid me more than hinder.
I got a Vortex Viper HS LR 6-24 FFP with the XLR(MOA) reticle. It should fill my needs perfectly. I didn't want imlumination so not missing that. The non exposed windage knob is a little wierd, but honestly I hold my windage more often so shouldn't be a huge deal. The biggest plus, it's FFP.
Got it mounted with my current rings and it fits well. The eye relief is far better than my Viper PA. I'm going to order a new pair of rings as well. The Warnes hold, but their design makes removing the scope a pain in the balls. I'm debating between the Luepold rings and Vortex. Only a $30 difference, so that's not a huge deal.

Oh range report next week. Going back home this weekend and I'm going shooting with a friend.
-
Let us know how it tracks.
I just went out and bought stuff to do a tracking test on my scopes after seeing some weird things.
-
I'll see if I can find a tracking grind to print or make one.
-
An easy way to do it would be to open an excel spreadsheet make the cell width and height 10cm or 3.6 inches and add borders then print a couple pages.

Well that's too easy.

Half it so you can do it at 50yds. You'll have a much easier time seeing what is going on.

@orkan great idea.
Here's the end result after some cutting with a utility knife.
1.8" squares for 50 yards.
Sorry to high jack your thread @norcal_in_az

No problem. You helped me out

So along the topic of tracking test I went ahead and made some MOA grids. I also sharded them on Google docs so anyone can print em out and use them.
