    Big brother at it again.
Gun registration; yeah I don't see how that could go wrong.

"The cost to enter names in the database will be covered by a fee paid by gun owners, which wasn't defined in the bill."

"Some local gun owners say the law confirms their fear that the government would know exactly who and where people keep their firearms."

Best of luck to you @mamalukino and I hope this doesn't pass for everyone sake.

  • The law is an end run to establish a data base of gun owners on the Federal level.
In Hawaii all guns need to be registered, unless a long gun (rifle, shotgun) acquired in state prior to July, 1994.
The guns themselves are not entered into the data base, but the owners of guns. The AH that introduced this bill met with BHO, the communist mooslim, in DC to discuss the end game strategy of destruction as BHO (should be BAH, fill in the blanks) leaves office.

  • Dark days ahead folks. Act accordingly.

  • Following right behind CA's steps.

  • That one is beating us actually.
We have to register our guns now, but not on a federal level.

If Hawaii passes it however, California is right behind.....

  • This unconstitutional, illegal, "law" will register gun owners not guns. It is the beginning of a national registration that will consist of bio-metric data including your SS #, drivers Lic.# and any other identifying information available, identifying you as a gun owner.
It is an end run around the Federal law (FOPA) prohibiting the establishment of a list of gun owners. The Hawaii law also will allow confiscation for certain misdemeanors upon indictment, not conviction anywhere in the US.
It is on the Guvs desk waiting for the completion of HDOJ review and his signature.

  • Why is no one stopping this? It is illegal.

HRA, NRA involved and thousands of letters sent, but as usual the scum supposedly representing and protecting the constitutional rights of the constituents are going to do what they intended to do all along. If it is fought in court, they will be starting here and ending up in Kalifonia, known judicial dictators of liberal horse manure.

Ignorance? apathy? The misguided notion that somehow this will make us safer?
    Take your pick.
I doubt its actual malice but it could be that too.

It seems to me the reason we have guns is to prevent shit like this from happening.

  • @ragnarnar It is out and out malice. It is totally unnecessary as there is the NCIC in place which will flag someone that is restricted. It also illegally adds a fee to exercise a constitutional right. They do everything possible to restrict gun ownership and make as many hoops and obstacles to jump through as they can get away with. Their "studies" only utilize information sourced from known anti gun orgs. such as the Southern Poverty Center and their ilk.
The politicians here on on board the Obama train and follow his agenda without question.

  • “Rap Back”: A New Federal Firearm Registry

"This de facto registry conflicts with the intent of several provisions in federal law that are aimed at preventing the establishment of a federal firearm registry. And, while Hawaii is the first state to consider implementing “Rap Back” firearm owners, FBI has clearly contemplated widespread use of the “Rap Back” service for this purpose as FBI’s own Rap Back Services Form lists “firearms” as one of the limited categories for which a “Rap Back” can be requested."
