Faith, Love, Hope

Colossians 1:3-5 says, “We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, [4] since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, [5] because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel,”

    Faith in Christ
    Love for the saints
    Hope in heaven

Paul mentions that he was thankful for these three things in the Christians at Colossae. Each of these builds upon the other and each is necessary to get to heaven. Faith is a complete trust in God knowing that He will deliver what He has promised, knowing that He will provide. Yet faith without love for one another is useless. Love one another like Christ loved us. A love that sacrifices, that is willing to endure strife, and that seeks the best for the other. True faith and proper love lead to hope. Not just a fleeting whim, but and earnest, deep desire for heaven that we know we will one day have.

    But the greatest is love!
