    Acts 2:40-41 says, “And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.”

    This was the first time the message of Christ was preached. It was accompanied with great miracles and signs that were done to confirm that the apostles word was from God. As they heard the truth of the word, received the truth, and were baptized, they were added to the church as Christians.

    The same message is true for us today as well. When we receive the truth of the word, we are baptized and added to the church.
