Remember your creator
-
Ecclesiastes 11:9-12:1 says, “Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
[10] Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.
[1] Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”;Advice to the young:
- Rejoice and be happy
- Follow your heart and the sight of your eyes
- Keep in mind that you will one day be judged for the way you lived.
- Remove sorrow (vexation) from your heart.
- Put pain away from your body
- Remember your creator.
Those who are young will one day be old. Young people often forget this fact. Older people tend to think more about judgement and eternity, yet Solomon here tells even the young to remember their creator and know that judgement is coming. Have fun when you are young, but make sure that fun takes into account the coming judgment.
