Burn the Book
-
Jeremiah 36:22-24 says, “Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.
[23] And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.
[24] Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.”God told Jeremiah what to write on these rolls (scrolls) and the message was taken to the king by the hands of Jehudi. When the rolls were read it made the king so angry that he took them and threw them into the fire. The King didn’t want to hear the message of God. The king didn’t want to hear that he was wrong or that Babylon was going to invade and conquer them because of their disobedience. So the king burnt the scrolls and commanded Jeremiah to be taken. However God protected Jeremiah. The King burning the scrolls and ignoring the message did not stop God from accomplishing the message. Babylon still attacked and the king still fell just as the message said it would.
All of our warnings in the Bible are true and are going to come to pass. We can ignore the message. We can burn the book, but it won’t stop the fulfillment from happening. Judgment is coming. Are you ready?
