Heaven of Rest
-
“Hebrews 3:16-19 says, “For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses? [17] And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? [18] And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? [19] So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.”
God delivered Israel out of Egypt after preforming great plagues. God parted the waters at the Red Sea and allowed Israel to cross safely while at the same time destroying Egypt’s pursuing army. God fed Israel while they were in the wilderness with daily food that fell from the sky. Yet through all of this, the people still failed to trust God. They rebelled against God. They disobeyed God. They sinned against God. Yet what it all boiled down to is that they did not have faith in God. There was only two adults who left Egypt and were still alive to enter the promised land. All the rest died in the wilderness due to their lack of faith.
We know God exists. We understand His power. We realize that God has heaven prepared for us. Yet if we rebel, disobey, and sin against God we will fail to reach our heaven of rest. Faith is the determining factor. Faith is a complete trust in God. Faith is trusting God enough to submit to Him. Faith is trusting God enough to obey Him. Faith is realizing that everything that God commands and says is true and knowing that when we trust Him, He will grant us entry into His eternal rest.
