Stupid people from other forums...

  • Obviously you can never confront people directly on the forums they are acting stupid on, because most of the time the moderators allow the stupid shit to take place, or directly take part in it. We should have a thread where Gunhive users can share the idiocy they find on other forums. I'll lead off with this:

    http://www.sniperforums.com/forum/misc/52210-lawn-mower-tannerite-blown-off-leg-7.html

It always amazes me how other gun owners are so quick to want the government to get into their lives. They think the government will make everyone safe. Obviously the logical folks here on Gunhive know that is complete bullshit. Goes without saying. Yet is anyone else ever surprised by these so-called patriots that cry for government intervention anytime some dumbass does something stupid?

  • It takes discipline to know what you know and where your knowledge has reached its limits.

I am still stuck with theory and book knowledge for a lot of things.

I like the approach Orkan is taking here.
Talk is nice for a little bit.
Ultimately you have to do it in the field and prove that theory or your individual skill.

  • Can I say I'm just tired of the stupid that is pouring out of some of their mouths over there. I don't feel the need to swing the ban hammer because someone is a idiot, I just let their actions speak for themselves.

  • @norcal_in_az as one of the participants, I hope that you're not talking about me, but completely understand if you are.

I get out of hand a lot, just slap me. Haha.

  • @rhyno

Not at all talking about you.

More stupidity. Funny how the same assholes that are claiming I'm rude and mean to everyone, are constantly playing the victim card, while simultaneously throwing spears at me. lol ;) I compliment a guy, not once, but 3 times, and he takes the opportunity to insult me for it and start a shit show.

They have to PM people, trying to polarize them against me... since their opinions are so goddamn hollow that they'll never withstand public scrutiny. Who knows what those morons do for a living, but it certainly isn't precision rifle sales and instruction. I shoot precision rifles every day... and can prove it. So can some of you here. I wonder how often those loud mouths touch a trigger?

  • And that is why I'm spending more time here than other forums. Like the lady said, "Show me ".
Outlaw Josey Wales was a good movie.

  • So the other forum I'm on never disappoints when it comes to retail prices for used guns. Here's a great example.

    http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=1190614

Same thing, new under $650. Add the scope rail and brake and its still less than that joker wants.
    The nerve of some people....
What's the rule of thumb for a used gun? is it like a car in that it loses half its value as soon as you shoot it? (Shoot the gun, don't shoot the car)

  • @norcal_in_az. I wonder if the seller has another precision gun to shoot or is going back to blasting with an AK?

I think the 50 shots and sell it exemplifies what Orkan meant with the term Typer Snyper.

50 shots is maybe two rounds of load development for the reloaders.

  • @hypo this hobby takes a commitment of time and money.

    Time is my shortfall.
I can adjust equipment to my budget.

Guns hold their value much better than cars. For example...I can buy a new glock here for right at $500+ttl. They frequently sell for $450. With gun prices going up as they are...if you keep the gun for 10 years you can probably sell it used for what you paid for it.

However...the rifle he is selling is not worth what he is asking unless it is some weird California market or something. In my opinion accessories don't add much value unless they are the exact item you are looking for.

  • For me if I'm buying a used gun, I better save 20% off of new. If it's a rare gun sure I'm going to pay a premium, but a gun that I can walk into any store and buy...

Yes off roster pistols sell well above retail in CA, but again supply and demand.

  • Like you say...if I can walk in and buy it anywhere I want to save some money. You notice I didn't say I was buying glocks for $450+!

However I have gladly spent current retail on older guns just to have an older one. I really have a soft spot for late 70's early 80's smith revolvers. I bought a 629 no dash for very close to retail on a new 629 and was excited to do so. The older smiths have better craftsmanship and quality than the newer ones.

If you are looking at revolvers, lever guns, and even some bolt guns...the age brings with it desired features and premium prices...but they are usually worth it in my opinion.

Take for example 40xb's and winchester 52's. They sell quite a bit over retail because of their value...but then again all of these "over retail" guns I am talking about will never be seen in the average pawn/gun shop...and if they are you better buy them because the pawn/gunshop owner probably wont know what they have.

  • Sounds like a typical californian to me. Buy it for $550, sell for $850... then feel justified and be angry and self-righteous toward anyone that tries to straighten them out.

The worst customers we've ever had come from the east and west coasts. It's happened too many times for me to think it's a coincidence.

  • I dream about a $500 40XB.... They seem to hover between $800-$1200 on gunbroker lately. My CZ will have to do for now.

  • What is it called when someone says something stupid, gets called on it, and then rather than accepting responsibility, lashes out at the person that called them on it? Gotta be a psychological diagnosis for that. ;)

It is the liberal Cloward-Piven strategy.

  • I would much prefer these forums...even if there are only "12-15 people" I get an answer I trust and I get it much quicker than on other forums.

Who would have guessed that is important? (I would have) ;)

For some, shooting is about "being cool," being with the "in" crowd, and being witty on the internet. Those types will never be tolerated here.

  • Too much testosterone on those places like AR15 and Scout. Check your ego at the door.

I asked a question once and some guy said in reply "Bro do you even gun?" I had to walk away, lest I damage my computer.

Theres a time and a place, but when I ask a question seriously, I'd like a serious answer.

  • I think that saying "bro" unless referring to your blood sibling should result in an immediate punch to the face. Also for those that insist on wearing flat-brim billboards as hats. It comes as no surprise that flat brim hat wearers say "bro" frequently.

we see a lot of both in Memphis. Fortunately I don't live in Memphis, but do go there frequently to shop and such.

Very well said, Quantity does not equal quality, and in some instances hurts quality since it hides it well.

I don't think testosterone is to blame..it's too many fragile egos over compensating and being keyboard ninjas because their lives suck so badly. Kind of like short man complex or insert whatever dang complex you can think of.

Since I started following Orkan's posting on other forums a couple years ago, I have been absolutely left speechless at how petty guys can be. I thought women were bad, and I mean we are horrible petty competitive creatures, but you put a bunch of men on a forum....better pop some popcorn and grab a drink because a cat fight is going to happen. I've been part of a handful of mom forums and there is far less drama that goes on then what happens on these other forums.

  • People's ego's are tied together with their perceived knowledge about "manly things." Since "snipers" became trendy in the movies, magically everyone seems to be an expert.

What I find amusing is how many questions I answer for those very same experts on a weekly basis. Thankfully the vast majority of my customers do not behave that way. This makes it easy for me to do anything for them.

Anonymity has a lot to do with it as well. Over the years, some of the most vocal and confrontational people on various gun forums, have been found to have almost zero real experience. That part is key. The only way you can have true knowledge about something, is to have spent an enormous amount of time doing that thing. Most of these keyboard commando's simply do not shoot. They live in a city, work full time job that is NOT shooting related, and they go out to a square range once a month if they are lucky. Yet those same people feel qualified to direct others on what they should be doing.

Pretty much anyone can create a false image of themselves online. Notice how the novices get all defensive and combative when you question their experience? Someone that is truly experienced can very easily provide evidence of that fact when questioned.

  • This....

    Is.....

At least after you quit taking it seriously.

  • @rhyno and good ol' phillip is right in the middle of all of it. Any post of his is laughable.

  • It's not even Phillip for the most part. It's the part between Mr.Tacticool and Frank.

I'm going to bet that within 10 years, most educational discussion on the internet will be gone from public view. It will only exist in private membership sites where users can be completely vetted before being admitted.

That killshot asshole needs a good punch to the mouth or a bullet in the ear. Just being a fuckhead for the sake of being a fuckhead, and the so-called moderators will let it go on. Yet if someone dares stand up to the cocksucker and call him out for the ignorant inexperienced shithead he is, they'll be banned.

  • The name by itself is not one that gives a good first impression .

  • @orkan
Killshot says he primes on a progressive...but he doesn't use primer tubes. At the risk of sounding ignorant what progressive press doesn't use primer tubes? I know it is not Dillon. I am familiar with their presses and they all use primer tubes. I assume Hornady also uses primer tubes since it is Hornady style that comes with the CPS. Maybe lee? But then again I think only Dillon and Hornady have case feeders.

    I don't know. I am baffled...but something doesn't add up.

  • Hornady uses tubes that's what came with mine (even though I haven't used it yet haha)

    Maybe he has this?

    https://www.dillonprecision.com/dillon-rf-100-lg-primer-filler_8_9_23473.html

But then that's $300 and he keeps whining about the cost of things.

  • I've never cared to search for logic in someone that goddamn dumb. Whatever press that dipshit is using, not withstanding. Every serious progressive press that I'm aware of uses primer feed tubes.

Next time someone bitches about the CPS being too expensive for priming... I'll link this: http://www.setpointusa.com/ammunition-equipment/ammo-priming-system.html

  • I don't know... That one primes crimps and seals primers, can the CPS do that?

It also needs 480 VAC and a 80 PSI air line to work.

I envy the man who shoots so much personally he needs that for himself.

  • @ragnarnar said:

Precision rifle doesn't need any of that shit. ;) Besides....

Those would be some very nice pieces of equipment. Makes my 1050 look like a toy.

One of the nicest features would be the fact that it throws out berdan primed brass. Right now I lose a decapping pin almost every time when a berdan primed brass comes through the press. I am running so fast that the rod is bent long before I ever realize it was not decapping it. lol.

however...seeing as they don't list the price on the website i venture a guess that it is not within my means.

  • This is a new one on me.

    I post this thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=807795

**Moderator sends me this message: **

    Hello Orkan

Links to websites are fine in signatures, but not posts where you are simply drawing traffic to your website to further your business. That is not what THR is here for. We welcome discussion here, and a sig line link is fine, but we expect your participation to be relevant here.

I removed some links after members complaints bringing it to my attention.

    Thanks for understanding.

Just how in the fuck am I suppose to share my article, without posting a link to it? ... and WHAT EXACTLY am I trying to SELL in that fucking article? Where in the fuck else am I suppose to post my content, if not on my goddamn website?!?!?!?!?!? Nevermind the fact that I actually fucking pay money to sponsor on the goddamn site!!!!

God DAMN people are stupid. This country is going to get EXACTLY what it deserves. Of that I have no doubt. People are so goddamn dumb, yet every single one of them thinks they are the smartest person they've ever met. They are void of even the lowest and simplest form of logic.

The high road is loaded with non-technical low-level type shooters anyway... but there are a few precision rifle guys that I know like my content. It's not that I can't post my stuff there that bothers me... it's the complete lack of logic that bothers me.

  • Half those guys didn't even read the article.

Then it quickly turned into a duck measuring contest.

"Well I dropped out of biology after one year"

    Dang makes you an expert.

  • So.... how long are ducks?

  • lol HAHAHAH

  • If a sponsor can't post a link, why sponsor?

THR was always a Fudd site in my experience.

  • @hypo said:

Agreed. I stopped posting there for a long time as a result of the stupidity. I am going to try to avoid it from here on out. ;) Same goes for any site that wants to let its users act like children.

You should have seen what they were saying when I posted my pressure article there. Some idiot that goes by "slamfire" zeroed in on one single thing that was said in my article, and proceeded to "educate" everyone on how awesome greased ammo was. ... you know, about a hundred years ago. Totally relevant. ;)
