Treasure

What is most important to you? What do you treasure the most? Do you treasure your family? Your home? Your things? Do you treasure your job, your friends?
What do you think about the most? What crosses your mind the most times in a day? What distracts you from that which you need to be doing and makes it hard to concentrate?
Luke 12:34 says, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Sometimes I believe we know what should be most important to us. We know that God should come first and at His command our family should be a close second. When we are asked, “what is most important to you?” we typically believe that our priorities are right and that God is most treasured. Yet out heart (mind) truly reveals where our treasure is. If our heart dwells on other things, then those things are important to us. It is ok to have other things that are important to us, the problem comes when those things replace God as most important. Where our treasure is, there will our heart be also. If we truly treasure heaven, our mind will dwell on it. If we truly treasure our family, our heart will think of them. If we truly treasure this world, we will be consumed by it and likely never realize what happened.
