Peace

Luke 2:11-14 says, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. [12] And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. [13] And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, [14] Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

It is the coming of Christ that brought peace. Christ, His message, and His sacrifice brings peace between us and God. Jesus’ sacrifice allows for the forgiveness of our sins thus bringing peace between us and God. It also brings peace to ourselves. When we are forgiven and trust God, then we have no reason to have anxiety or worry. We can trust God to take care of things and even if things are not seeming to go well, God will work it for good.

The peace that Christ came to bring extends much beyond just between us and God and ourselves. However sometimes the other peace is Interrupted by others not willing to follow Christ. When everyone follows Christ’s pattern, there will be peace in families, peace in the world, and peace even with those who are our enemies. Peace in all of these areas is possible, but dependent upon all parties being willing to follow Christ’s pattern.

The peace of Christ is a peace that is not found anywhere else. It is a peace that He desires for us to have and provides to us when we follow His pattern for our lives.
