Magnetospeed Chronograph

Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy one of these? I have a Caldwell but I hate messing with it. I use it around the house mainly with .22 rim fire and air rifle stuff. I have used my friends much nicer Caldwell when he sets it up at the range but error pops up more than I have patience for.

I have had one for about a year and am very happy with it.

I have the V3 and like it. The only thing I have to compare it to is an caldwell which is a pain to set up and like you said it throws an error code about every 5th shot or so...and sometimes more. I don't like that it attaches to the barrel, but I follow Greg's method for load development which only uses the chrono to verify speed of the load.
I would go with the V3 instead of the sporter. At some point you are going to want to attach that thing to a suppressor and unless they have changed it in the last few years, the sporter won't hook up to a suppressor.

I've had the V2 for a few years now.
The only bad thing about the magneto speed is that you cannot really do load development with it. It's never stopped me from finding an accurate load though, so it's not a concern for me.
On that note any shot taken with it on the barrel isn't like a normal shot, I've put the magneto speed on the rifle and had no change in POI but group sizes were larger, or I've had it shift POI on varying degrees, and varying directions.
I've had no problem using it on center fire and rimfire (using lead match grade ammo), haven't tried it on shotguns or muzzle loaders.

I didn't know this about a suppressor. There is a member of the range I go to that has the V3 and he couldn't explain the difference he just said it fit more barrel options I guess he meant suppressor and he doesn't own any. I quizzed him about it last week and he really recommended it over the rabbit ear type as well. Well fiddlesticks, always something.

Magnetospeeds are very accurate and reliable.

I have a magnetospeed V3 that I would sell only used a couple of times. I did not like how it changed POI so load development was separate. It is good for a ladder test if you are looking for a certain speed or verifying speed for drop chart. No reasonable offer declined oh and Black Friday special free shipping...

@tpk936
I will have to get back to you later. I'm fixing to be without cell phone, internet and won't see too many humans for a few days except for those I want to see. At least I hope so.
