Weary in doing good
-
2 Thessalonians 3:11-13 says, “For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. [12] Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. [13] As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.”
Sometimes people fall on “hard times” and need a hand here or there. This situation is seen many times in the New Testament and Christians are taught to help those people.
Other seem to always be on “hard times” due to an unwillingness to work to earn a living. Laziness or an unwillingness to work is goes against that which the Bible teaches. We must not grow weary in our willingness to work.
We must also realize that it is not out responsibility to provide for those who are not willing to work. When we do so, we are encouraging them to live in such a way that is not pleasing to God. God expects each of us to work and earn a living.
