I am too busy!
-
I am convinced that almost everyone is born with a very keen sense of right and wrong. I am convinced that when that sense of right and wrong is ignored enough times, it becomes calloused to the point that one's conscience is no longer bothered by doing wrong. Other times ones sense of morality is skewed by their environment. Either they are raised by people who "train" their sense of right and wrong out of them, or they allow themselves to be influenced by society until they become hardened to truth.
How can we know if our sense of right and wrong is correct? How can we be sure that we have not become hardened over by the evil around us? God has given us His word to keep us grounded in truth. We can know right from wrong through a study of His word. We can know how to live, how to treat others, how to serve God, how to worship, and how to be saved through His word. We can know the answers to life's most basic questions through His word. Questions such as, "where did we come from?", and "Where are we going?" and "what is our purpose here on earth?" The word of God contains a great deal of information to help lead us and keep us going in the right direction.
Most people in today's world live very busy lives. They get up early and head off to work only to get home just before bed time. Sometimes they have a day off each week, but even then that day is usually spent mowing the lawn or keeping up with other things around the house that must be attended to. The reality is, we live busy lives and spend very little time with that which matters most. We must realize that certain things CANNOT be ignored regardless of how busy we might become. God's word is important enough that we must decide that regardless how busy we become we are going to find time to study His word. I challenge you to make the commitment to studying God's word, yet not only make the commitment for yourself. Make the commitment with your family. Study His word together so that as a family you will grow stronger in faith (Romans 10:17). Study His word with an open mind and heart so that His word will dwell inside you (Colossians 3:16). Make the study of God's word something that you do not only to learn and grow in faith, but to praise God as the amazing creator He is!!!
Romans 10:17 says, "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."
Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom."
