Who directs my steps?
-
Jeremiah 10:23-25 says, “ O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
[24] O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
[25] Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.”So many things in these three verses. He desires for God to direct his steps and realizes that he himself without God cannot properly direct how he lives.
He desires correction from God, but not a destroying anger, but rather a loving correction. There are times when we are wrong and when we desire to do right we will be willing to change when we see that we are wrong. Yet a failure to be willing to change will lead to a destroying correction.
He desires the destroying anger of God upon those who refuse to turn to God and obey Him. They don’t know God and they don’t want to know God, therefor he desires righteous judgment.
