Ezekiel 18:20 says, “The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.”
We are each responsible for our own sin. While fathers have a great influence on their children and are responsible to bring them up in the Lord, a father is not responsible for the sins of the son. In like manner, a son is not responsible for the sins of his parents. When a son does what is right, he is righteous before God regardless of how his father lived. We are each individually responsible for our own righteousness...or evil.
