Strong Deluson

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 says, “The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

Paul had been telling of the coming of the lawless one. It describes how he will come with power, false signs, and wonders and wicked deception. The only reason this lawless one will be able to deceive is because people refuse to love truth. When we love truth we recognize lawless people for who they are. When we love truth we recognize false signs and false teaching. Yet when we don’t love truth, it is possible to be so deluded as to believe a lie. This verse even describes God as sending this delusion upon people who don’t love or believe truth.

If we refuse to believe truth, then we by default believe a lie. When we love truth, we will accept nothing short of the truth.
