A child is born
-
Isaiah 9:6-7 says, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
While the Christmas holiday season Is not based in the Bible, it does get our mind on the birth of Christ. These verses from Isaiah were written about 700-800 years before Christ was born and foretell several details about Him. He is king (government), He is God, He is everlasting, He is the prince of peace. His kingdom is eternal. He is from the throne of David.
This description in detail describes Christ and can describe no other. God through the prophecies of Isaiah foretold of the coming of His son. Jesus being born is one of the greatest aspects of Christianity, however even greater than His birth was His death and resurrection. If any of these three were missing or different than the prophecies, then Jesus would not have been the savior.
I am thankful our savior was born. I am thankful He died as our sacrifice. I am thankful that He rose again to reign eternally!!!
