While we were sinners
-
Romans 5:6-8
[6] For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. [7] For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. [8] But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.One of the amazing things about the sacrifice Jesus made is that He didn’t die for the righteous. He died for the ungodly. Christ died for those who were lost and disobedient. It would have been a great sacrifice if Christ had died for the righteous, however the fact that He died for the ungodly shows just how much He really loves us.

There are a lot of people that think this gives them permission to live however they want.

Romans 6:1, “shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid!”
Forgiveness is not a reason to continue in sin. Forgiveness is only available when we turn from our sins (repentance). Yet when we are willing to change our heart and actions, He is ready to forgive.
