Abstain from Fleshly Lusts

When we realize that our goal in life is to get to heaven, then the physical things should not mean nearly as much to us. We have things and use things in this life, but our mind should be on spiritual things. We are just "strangers and pilgrims" on this world and as such are only here for a short time before we go to our eternal home. Yet the only way to go to heaven is to keep our physical self from following after the physical lusts that will fight against our soul and keep it from succeeding. In other words, we must learn to focus on the spiritual aspects which are eternal and not let the physical things of the here and now distract us.
