    3 pounds boneless beef chuck roast, cut into 1-2" chunks
    2 Tablespoons Onion Powder
    1 tsp celery powder
    1 Tablespoon minced garlic
    2 sprigs fresh thyme
    2 sprigs fresh sage
    1 tsp salt
    1 teaspoon pepper
    1 cup Guinness
    3 cups beef broth
    3 carrots, cut into small pieces
    3 potatoes cut into small pieces
    1 pound froze cut green beans
    2 bay leaves
    1 tablespoon dried basil
    *1/4 cup butter
    *1/2 cup quinoa

    Toss everything into the crock pot, stir, cover and cook on low for 8+ hours. Remove the sprigs and bay leaves before serving. Serve with your favorite bread.

    *These are optional and my own modification. Whenever I've made stew I've always thought something was missing. I don't eat bread regularly, very rarely actually, but I wanted that buttery bread taste with my stew. Adding rice or quinoa and the butter gave me that satisfaction. The butter also gives extra depth to the flavors in the stew... it's slightly creamy, slightly salty and all kinds of deliciousness. You can skip the Quinoa and/or butter...instead add 3 tablespoons flour to thicken the stew.
