Nielsen, whose law enforcement career spans four decades, said he’s never seen armed parents respond to a lockdown before and he wants to make it clear that doing so is a very bad idea.
Cops have a history of letting school shooters rampage away without entering and taking action. Now they don't want you going to help your kid either.

Not surprised.
Of course not. They don’t want people taking their own safety into their hands because they give up contol.
BTW— Tennessee has a law. It keeps someone who justifiably uses a gun from being prosecuted for having a gun in an illegal place. So if you carry a gun into a school to stop a school shooting, then you can’t be prosecuted for having a gun in a school. Yet you have to trust the prosecutor, judge, and jury to do the right thing.

To me, it means cops who think this way, do not think cops can be trusted to follow ROE in life or death situation and that cops will just shoot anyone with a firearm, even (per the article example) an off duty cop with a gun.
In the Army I was in, we were taught (like when on guard at the motor pool, where believe it or not, we had live ammo issued with our rifles and pistols, yes we had live ammo when on guard duty) that we only use deadly force, to stop deadly force. So, if I see someone shooting kids, I shoot them, if I see someone shooting at me, I shoot them, that sort of thing.
I follow my ROE whenever I go out on my land with a firearm ... "that critter is a target" ... "that critter is not a target" ... for instance deer, deer are not a valid target except in deer (gun) season, which around here is dawn to dust for one week in early November. So, at 2am, if I see a critter moving back in the woods with thermal, I must PID that critter before I can shoot, and I do. I follow my ROE every time I go out, so I think I can follow my ROE in all circumstances. I would expect Cops to train to do the same.

Good luck with that. Prosecutors are basically the most corrupt class of human being that presently exist.
