First & Second Trips Out with TT5-25
-
First trip to range with new TT 5-25.
Big thanks to @orkan and @tscustoms -- Thanks!
Couple days later dope test at 945 - 6.4 mils
-
@tan_90 Nice masterpiece chassis. Nice shooting.
-
Thanks!
-
@tan_90 Happy to be of service! If there's ever anything I can do, just give a call. :)
-
Got to show off the rest of the rig ;)
-
☝️What he said. Let’s see that pill slinger
-
The only other one I have is this one:
Rifle was built by @tscustoms on a lone peak, jewell trigger, hawk hill brl chambered in 6 dasher sitting in a MPA chassis. Travis builds good stuff :)
Here was a 3 shot dope check at 1k on a 1000yd IBS target -- it was a calm morning but shows just how accurate the rifle is.
Once again just stopping by to say thanks to @orkan and @tscustoms
-
@tan_90 Hope to see more posts from you in the future. :)

@tan_90
Good shooting and nice rifle. Travis definitely knows what he’s doing. The 223 of mine he build is a laser.
-
@tan_90 Your kids look like they want that rifle, the way there looking at it and smiling.Good shooting.
-
Oh they shoot it plenty -- My son shot the badger.
-
5 shot dot drill tonight -- pretty sad deal.
First shot way low -- weird broke nice and no barrel was not cleaned.
The other shots I had a lot of horizontal movement on target. Last one was the saving grace ... center punch :).Any thoughts on how to work out the horizontal?
-
@tan_90 Horizontal dispersion is most often caused by one or all of these three things:
- Body position
- Trigger manipulation
- Faulty rear support
-
Got to do some testing Friday - new lot of powder and bullets
300YD 1.5" dots - up .8 mil .2 mil right(another .1 would have been better in hindsight) and shot.
Wasn't really doing a dot drill but kinda worked out that way. Seems a lot easier to hit the dots when you don't care if you hit them ;)32.8 was just over .5" 32.6 was just under an inch.

Fun shooting with my son -
-
Fun with my daughter -- shooting 6mm FatRat. She does a great job keeping 90 degree trigger finger :)
She's good for deer season.
-
@tan_90 what state lets you hunt deer with a semi-auto.?
-
Free ones :)
South Dakota does, the kids will only have one in the magazine (bolt back), however. That is the downside of shooting the AR for kids is the extra safety requirements I take, but the upside is the great ability to fit the rifle to the kid quickly.
-
What state doesn’t let you hunt with semi autos?

Pennsylvania hunts for deer.

Tripod -> Awesome for kids...IMO.

Took the afternoon off to get some decent dope on my @tscustoms 6.5 SAUM -> shot a 3 shot group at 600 to see how my load held up in today's nasty winds....Travis builds ok stuff and @orkan the Tangent Theta is still fricken bad ass!
I also had something happen to me that has never occurred before. While I was downrange painting targets and hanging paper someone setup on the bench next to me and FIRED his FRICKEN RIFLE while I was DOWNRANGE. As I returned and approached the benches he said "Where did you come from"...with a spooked look on his face. I told him "from down fu**ing range". He was an older guy probably 70 or so was very apologetic -- I told him to stop speaking to me and moved onto my business. I do believe one more word would have been the breaking point for me.
As I type this I am rather amazed at my composure during the whole event. All the bad shit that could have happened and didn't...Training perhaps paid off, don't know. For certain, God was keeping an eye out today :)
After all that I dropped down shot a sub 1.5" 3 shot group at 600+ and called my dope good.

@tan_90 holy smokes, I would have lost my shit. I get pissed when guys change the flag while I'm still down range, never mind actually taking a shot while I'm down range. Glad you weren't injured.
-
@tan_90 Holy cow. I'm glad you're ok.
Things like that is why I never visit public ranges anymore.
