Advice on approx. $1k Scope (give or take)

I'm looking for advice on scopes in the $1000 price range (give or take). This will go on my new build for my son that will be chambered in 6BR.
I've had Vortex PST Gen 1 that I was happy with. I haven't looked through the gen II.
Apparently Bushnell/GAP is blowing out the Bushnell LRHSi 4.5-18X44 G2H illum (MIL) scopes for $750 (discontinuing the scope line). Apparently its a $1500 scope, but I don't have any experience with that either.
It needs to be FFP and Mil. I'm not apposed to a used scope, as long as the warranty is transferable and backs it up. (kid might be a little rough on the scope)
I am going to sell back a week of vacation next month, and that should net me $800-900, and I want that to go towards a scope for this build.

I have two gen 2 PST’s one 3-15 and one 5-25. I’ve been very happy with both of them and they are a huge improvement over the gen 1’s in both optical quality and turret design.

@curt1521 While I have no experience with the scope, I just picked up the Razor Gen I. If you search, it can be had for in the vicinity of $1,000. Just an idea.

In the $1k space, I use Burris XTR2 line scopes and they meet all my needs, day, night, hot, cold, rain, snow, ice, etc.
I use the scr-mil reticle ... a fancy "classic milling" reticle with useful illumination. I use on .300WM(24), 6.5G(18) and 5.56(18).
Here is the scr-mil reticle ...
And here is .300WM(24) with xtr2 5-25x scr-mil
And here is 6.5G(18) with xtr2 3-15x scr-mil
When I got them, new scopes were running around $900 to $1,100 depending on the model. Now they are about $1,000 less for new scopes.
I took a Burris AR 536 scope in a trade and the reticle was canted. I sent it to Burris and they sent me back and new scope with an uncanted reticle. So, experience with customer support is positive so far.
The xtr2 track and have a zero-stop, though you need allen wrench to set the zero-stop, it is not tool-less.
