Help, stuck jag in barrel
-
I was using a plastic jag and it got stuck a couple inches from breech I kept pushing but could not get it out so I pulled back and broke the jag. Is there any way to get it out without damaging the bore?
-
@toni you can use a grease gun to squeeze it out of there.

I got it out!! inserted the rod from muzzle and with a few taps it has come out.

@orkan
Explain that one for me please sir. Very interesting

An old-time mechanic told me about using grease and a hammer to remove a pilot bushing 30+ years ago.

That’s pretty cool thanks fellas

They beat me to it. :)
Grease guns can squeeze like mad!

Yea we tighten tracks on bulldozers and crawler cranes with them but I never thought about a stuck bullet or jag. Guess you’d have to rig up something like he had to hold pressure. Maybe an adapter that screwed onto the muzzle with a grease fitting would be handy

Done that at work before, works if you can get a good seal, otherwise big mess. Also mildly amusing when you buddy tries and and grease shoots out around the mandrel and splatters all over him.

Thanks, it is a good method just need to figure how to attach the grease gun to the bore. Do you know any other method? just to be prepared if it happens again.
