Excellent article on hearing loss

  • As someone who wears hearing aids every day, I can tell you that hearing loss is no joke. Something I learned long ago is that hearing loss isn't necessarily prevented by having something shoved in your ear or over your ear. Great article on the subject here.

  • Thanks. That was a good read.

  • I didn't know you had hearing aids, never seen them in any of your videos. Do you think it came from shooting? or something else?
Good article, I wondered about that like when wearing ear protection when you tap on your head it resonates thru you skull you can hear it (and feel it of course), or when wearing a helmet for motor cycles, and football outside sounds get muffled but resonate loudly inside when hit or tapped on the same thing like your skull.

My ear doc thinks both genetic and concussive loss. Thankfully I got suppressors fairly early on. By the time I was putting thousands of rounds down range, I was using suppressors for almost every shot fired.

You can't see my hearing aids because they are state of the art. You think rifles and optics are expensive? Neglect your ears and go hearing aid shopping. This is part of the reason why I harp on people to shoot suppressed so much.

  • Interesting article. I grew up on a farm and when I was younger did not always make the smartest choices on a day to day basis regarding protecting my hearing. Now I wear ear plugs for just about everything.

Previously a suppressor was on my list of wants but not a priority. This has me wondering if I should move it up in the priority list.
