That is exactly what I was thinking about doing with my Birch stocked Remington Sportsman 270.
True up the Action, good barrel and convert to 280 Ackley in a nice ADL type stock, Timney Trigger.
Heavy profile but fluted to drop weight a bit and keep as much stiffness as possible.
What length? 26"-28" Bean field gun. 1800+ foot pounds at 500 yards for hogs.
2800 fps with a 180 grain would be the goal.
There are some big bean fields to the South of me.
I have my 30-30 for the woods.
