Rifle sling for a DT SRS
-
I'm wanting to equip my DT with a sling. I've seen pics or vids of Orkan using a pack to carry his DT. My ankle only lets me go only about 100-200 yards before giving grief. So I'm thinking a sling is more my speed.
The rig is around 20 lbs. Any thoughts?

I run TAB Gear. I prefer the fastex buckles as compared to the cobra buckles. I like using some elastic webbing to wrap the noisy parts of the sling so its quiet and doesn't dig into me or the rifle.
@tscustoms has more experience with the latest slings than I. I ran one of his with a bungee once... it was pretty nice.
This one maybe? https://www.riflesonly.com/the-bungee-sling

I have a couple of the FTW slings with the bungee. They are pretty nice. I seldom use them for any positional shooting so I'm sure I could do with less sling.
The SAP sling is a little simpler and less expensive. Lots of shooters at the matches carrying their rifles around with these too.

Bungee sounds nice for a heavy rifle. TS can you be more specific why you don't think the bungee unit is not your preference for shooting positional. I don't get around so well any more so it might be less of an issue for me.

@martino1 cost and features. I seldom use mine for more than simply a strap to carry the rifle by.

I do not have a DT so can’t comment on how it would work for that particular rifle, but I have a Rifles only bungee sling and it works very well. I feel like being proficient with a sling is a good skill to maintain so I still use a sling for positional shooting from time to time and the last couple matches I’ve shot in have had “sling only” stages. If all your planing on doing is using the sling to carry the rifle then I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives that will suit your needs better.

I picked up an Armageddon gear PR sling recently @tscustoms recommendation.
I haven’t quite figured out how to “sling in” with it as quickly as the guy in the demo videos, but all told I’m pretty pleased with how it carries the rifle.

I made my own sling when I got the Bravo Chassis. Bought a pair of GrovTec swivels, an AustriAlpin Cobra tri-glide, some 1 1/4" mil-spec webbing, and its held together by some Chicago screws. It is is not quick adjust, but the Cobra tri-glide holds the webbing once adjusted and doesn't move at all. 1 1/4" webbing spreads the weight nicely and doesn't dig into your shoulders.
The biggest reason I made my own was because every sling I found on the market was either a Wal-Mart style hunting rifle sling, or a positional sling with lots of tabs and adjustments. I wanted something heavier duty than your typical hunting sling, but I didn't want loose tag ends and loops in my sling either. Not sure if it ever would, but I was worried about those loose ends snagging on something.
