Bullets From The Bible 1-23-18

1 Corinthians 7:10 says, “Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband.”

Marriage is something that is not sacred in our society anymore. About 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce for some reason or another. Matthew 19:9 tells us that that only reason for divorce is because of fornication (sleeping around)...yet our society has found all sorts of reasons to justify divorce.

Marriage is a vow. It is a Vow to be faithful and true to a person until death breaks that bond. When we value our word we will keep that vow that we have made and remain faithful to our spouse.

Marriage is not always easy. Sometimes we have differences that need to be sorted out. Sometimes there are compromises that must be made. Sometimes the person we married changes and is not the same as they were when we married them. Yet they are still the person we vowed to be with and we should work together to make our marriage work. Fight for your marriage. Be willing to give to make your marriage work. Keep in mind that there will likely come a time when your spouse will be the one giving to make it work as well.

I know this message is not popular in our world...but it is truth. The importance and permanence of marriage should make us realize the importance of choosing the right spouse. Don’t go into marriage lightly, but rather consider every aspect of it. Don’t just ask, “do I love this person?”, but ask also, “can I live with this person...for the rest of my life?”

If you have a good spouse, thank them for all they do. If you are in a difficult marriage, work hard at making it work and being the spouse that you should be.

  • It is the greatest most rewarding adventure I’ve been on yet. Freaking downright hard & crushing at times too, but I’ve become a better person, wife & mother due to the struggles.

I wish more people would take their word & vows seriously. Not only in marriage but across the board. Sure would solve a lot of issues in the world today.
