    From the story

A Meadville man is suing over a case of mistaken identity.

Eugene Wright, 63, says he still has nightmares after what happened to him just six months ago.

Wright, now retired, said he was outside his home in June of last year when Meadville police and a representative with Stairways Behavioral Health confronted him.*

They gave him a $50 gift card to apologize, thats just adding insult to injury at this point. I'm not a big fan of lawsuits, but I hope this guy goes after these agencies with everything he can.

  • Wrongful arrest, prosecution, and conviction is the most dire threat we face in this country. The only people that disagree with this are those that haven't been through it. Police can "declare" you a criminal for anything they please, and when they are wrong, NOTHING happens to them. Attorneys will tell you "don't bother suing them, you'll never win and they'll just target you and your family."

You quite literally have no idea how easily it can happen to you.

I hope this guy sues the ever loving shit out of all responsible, and wins big.

  • Dam that is an 35-40min away from me. I never heard anything about it on our local news.

Sheriff must have a pretty big rug to sweep that under if the media didn't get to it or the Sheriff knew the news people. Small town law can get away with a lot if they are bad guys.

  • The media and general public doesn't care much about innocent people who are falsely arrested. The general public wants to feel safe at any and all costs. That is why many are willing to give up gun rights. That is why they don't throw a fit when people are falsely accused and arrested. That is why they stand back and allow the government to take more and more freedom away from the people. People like the illusion of feeling safe and most will give up all freedoms in order to feel safe. However what they don't realize is that physical safety is an illusion in and of itself. The government claims to be protecting the citizens from themselves, yet it is not the governments responsibility to protect the citizens from themselves, nor are they capable of doing so.

Reality: complete safety is an illusion. If you want to maximize your chances of being safe, then carry a gun, train, and stay away from places where the chances are higher that your gun will be needed. Or when danger arrives just call 911 and wait. Your choice.

It's mob rule at its finest. If you aren't friends with the right people or have the right last name, you're on your own. After that it just comes down to money. If you have enough money you can buy your freedom back.
