Proud daddy

  • Well my oldest daughter got the hunting bug last year when she killed her first deer. She has had a bit of bad luck this year, but has been working hard to get one. First buck I killed, she had fallen asleep and I couldn’t get her to wake up to save my life. I had loaded some Barnes 70 gr TSX’s in a 223 for her and was a little concerned how they would do on a mature buck. Well that concern was quickly eliminated. He didn’t make it 15 yards and both shoulder where shattered. Latter that same day a really nice high racked 10 point came out a few minutes before dark and she never could find him in the scope. A few hunts later Ava’s buck came out with a spike and where standing side by side and she snaked the bullet right over the top of the spikes back into the boiler room of the 8 point. She had about a 6 inch window between the spikes back and the 8 points vitals. Not bad for a 6 year old. He made it about 30 yards and piled up.

  • I would have liked to see the smile on your face when you saw your little girl smiling like that.God bless

  • Congrats to both of you.

  • Way to go Papa. That's the next generation's nature conservator right there.

  • @steelbanger I don’t know who was happier me or her. When they came out she said I’m gonna get him daddy, got the gun up and I was looking at her and asked if she remembered where to shoot and she said yep then pow!! I was still looking at her when she shot, I fully expected to look up and see the spike flopping around. She impressed the hell out of me to say the least. She been calling it her “monster” deer every since

  • Them’s good days right there! Get the pictures printed and put them in her baby book. Kids grow up fast and we forget how precious they were before we got so damned old.
