Isaiah 40:28-31 says, "Have you not known?Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD,The Creator of the ends of the earth,Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.[29] He gives power to the weak,And to those who have no might He increases strength.[30] Even the youths shall faint and be weary,And the young men shall utterly fall,[31] But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles,They shall run and not be weary,They shall walk and not faint."

This passage was given as a reminder to Israel as to who their God really was. We sometimes forget that we have the same God. We sometimes fail to remember that our God is the everlasting creator of the world. Our God is not plagued with fatigue. Our God has a mind that infinitely understands things.

Sometimes we forget that our God is all powerful. Our God is a God who gives power to the weak and strength to those who otherwise would not succeed. On the other hand, God can take those who think they are powerful and bring them to nothing.

Then God makes a promise. Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. This strength is an endless strength provided by God: wings like eagles, run and not tire, walk and not faint. Yet it requires that we wait on the Lord. We wait on Him by following and obeying Him. We wait on Him by trusting and serving Him. We wait on Him by realizing that even though we might be weak now...there will come a day in which He will grant us power to overcome. Yet for now we wait. We wait through the toils and struggles of this life. We wait through the wickedness and opposition from the world. We wait through temptations and pain until one day our all powerful God delivers us from this old world and all the struggles Satan throws at us while we are here!
