Galatians 6:3-4 says, “For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
[4] But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”Self perception is often a difficult thing. We might see sin and areas that need improvement in the lives others. Yet looking inward at ourselves can be very difficult.
Here we are to commanded to examine ourselves. If we truly believe that we are something when we are nothing we deceive ourselves. We might fool a few others around us too...but our perception and that of those around us does not change reality.
Therefore, We must have enough humility to be willing to admit that we need to improve. We must be able to examine ourselves and realize the areas in which we need to improve. Then we must be willing to honestly work towards improvement. Improvement will never happen until we realize that we need it and are willing to put forth the work to realize those improvements.
