Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,
[11] So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

God’s word is powerful. God’s word is perfectly capable of accomplishing that which He desires for it to accomplish. The immediate context of this verse is dealing with Isaiah and his prophecies to Israel. I am sure it seemed to Isaiah that Israel was not listening to him as he spoke God’s message. Yet God assures Isaiah that the message he is speaking is accomplishing God’s purpose. While God’s message had the power to change their lives it did not because they would not receive and obey it.

God’s message today still accomplishes the purpose as well. God’s word provides salvation to those who will listen and obey. God’s word can guide and direct our steps and lead us in the right way. Yet just as in Isaiah’s day...the word is only beneficial to us if we will listen and obey it. God’s word will accomplish the purpose that He set out for it to accomplish. We decide whether it makes a difference in our lives or not.
