Isaiah 59:1-2 says, “Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear.
[2] But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you.”Israel had gotten to a point that they were no longer obedient to God. Some of them worshipped Him in pretense, but ultimately the whole nation had turned their back on Him. God through the prophet Isaiah here tells the nation that God is not the reason they have not been saved. It is not that God cannot save or deliver them. It is not that God cannot hear their prayers pleading for help. Their lack of deliverance has come because they have turned their face from God. God turned His face away from Israel because they refused to follow Him.
Have you ever stopped to wonder where that leaves our nation? Have we turned our back on God as a nation? At least Israel would ask God for help and deliverance. Our nation is to the point that we think we don’t even need God anymore.
Have you ever wondered where this concept leaves us as individuals? Do we in pretense follow God claiming to be Christians while living like the world and the whole time believe that God will save us even when we have not sincerely followed Him! Do we pray and pray to Him wondering why He hasn’t granted our petitions and the whole while failing to follow Him? Our salvation and petitions to God are not beyond His power...however when we have turned our face from Him, He will also turn from us.

I would say that it’s certainly a contributing factor to where we are today. Look no further then the snobby eliteist in Hollywood who look down on religion and preach morality yet the scandals are only beginning to come out.
