Bullets From The Bible: 11-10-17

Matthew 18:15 says, "“Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother."

Many times in life people will wrong us in one way or another. Yet it is how we handle those times that often determine whether or not we are able to keep a friend or will lose a friend for life. The Bible outlines what we are to do when someone has wronged us. The first step is to go to them alone and to confront them. If people are sincere and honest this step will solve all differences we might have. Yet this takes two things. This takes us being willing to go talk to the other person...and it also takes us being willing to listen when one comes to us. Sometimes it is difficult to hear when I have done wrong...yet we must listen and be willing to change.

Notice the steps that are not listed in this verse that we often want to try first. We are not to go discuss it with others. We are not to talk about them, gossip about them, or take it to the church. We are not to avoid them, take revenge, or secretly hate them. We are to go talk to them alone...and many times this will solve the problem without any other steps.
