22 Creedmoor vs 220 Swift

  • Hey guys, I'm brand new to Gunhive and I came by references to the 22 Creedmoor. I have a Remington VSSF chambered in 220 Swift that I am not impressed with the accuracy with (it's about 3/4) MOA, so not terrible but not real impressive either. I have been thinking about rebarraling it to a 6 or 6.5 creedmoor to make a long range varmenter. What would be the advantages or disadvantages of a 22 Creedmore?

  • The 22CM hits with 300ft/lbs more energy at 600yds than a 6.5CM. Mine pushes an 80gr berger just past 3500fps. It smashes coyotes, and smashes them hard. If you have any other specific questions just let me know.

  • Wow that is awsome! What is the difference between the 22 Creedmoor and the 22 Cheetah? And what could you expect barrel life to be? I am just kind of getting in to "long" range. My average shot on coyotes is between 200 and 300 yards and about the same on crows. I need to get some better glass if I am going to reach out farther consistently.

  • @220yotekiller A 22 cheetah is a fringe cartridge in comparison. The cheetah might have a bit more horsepower depending on who's loading it, but the 22CM is an easy button in comparison.

Not sure on barrel life. I haven't burned one up yet.
