anybody got any suggestions on what camera is the best bang for your buck?
as far as one that will send you pictures or video to your cell phone or email. right after it gets done filming?

Our cell plan would allow a piggy back on our current plan...but it was going to be $10/mo and would draw from our current data. Problem is there was a connect/disconnect fee if I remember right...so you would essentially have to pay the $10/mo continually if you wanted to do it.
I never bought one either and it has been a few years...but they were about $350 for entry level camera that would text pictures.
I have a cheap Motrie camera and it works...but it is nothing fancy. I have to collect the pictures from the camera.

The fancy cell connection game cameras are a lot of expense and bother. They also don't work unless there is pretty good cell signal at the site. An end of season sale camera with a good memory card is all you need.

Not walking in all the time to check your cam memory card would certainly have benefits. Lots of stink goes with you every time you go in. That might fly with "city deer" or "deer farms" with lots of activity... but the critters around here are awfully wild. Those fellas with the big hardware on their heads don't tolerate much pressure. I certainly see what the benefits would be of having a remotely accessible unit.

I'm going to use it at work for a security camera. at a place with no power for anything else.

Twitch, for security duty be sure to get one that does not have a red or white flash or a standing red led. The ones I use are Wild Game Innovations. They will run over a year on 8 AA lithium batteries and have a port to connect an external power source. They record on a standard SD card and have a mini-USB socket so you have the option to download the pictures or pull the memory card. There's all sorts of options on picture resolution, trigger delay, reset interval, etc. At night I use infrared flash.

THat is insane battery life. Mine will run about 6 weeks on 8 c batteries.
