Chicken Noodle Soup
Most everyone knows Chicken Noodle Soup is recommended to eat when you have a cold or any sort of illness going on, but most don't understand why it works so well:
http://share.upmc.com/2014/02/chicken-noodle-soup-when-sickI like to add garlic, nature's natural antibiotic/antibacterial/antifungal medicine, Oregano (another powerful antibacterial/antifungal/antiviral) and Basil (also antibacterial/antifungal/antiviral) to my soup for extra benefit. Below is my recipe:
Ingredients:
Equivalent to 2 Rotisserie Chickens, meat torn off and chunked up
7 cups Chicken Broth, I like to use Chicken Bone Broth that I make in my crock pot
2 cups Vegetable Broth
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder (or 1/2 small onion, minced)
1 Tablespoon Basil
1/2 Tablespoon Oregano
2 or 3 carrots, chopped in coin pieces (or 1 small bag of frozen crinkle cut carrots)
2 celery sticks, thinly chopped (or 1 teaspoon celery salt)
3 cups Egg Noodles (I like to use spiraled rice noodles or spiralized zucchini instead of egg noodles)
Salt and Pepper to taste
1-2 Tablespoons butter (I use Ghee), this gives the soup a deeper flavor. If you'd like some added kick to your soup, add some Sriracha or other hot sauce, more pepper or even toss in some jalapenos. The spice will help clear your sinuses quick and also help boost your immune system.
Toss everything in the crock pot on high for 2-3 hours, or until noodles are cooked and veggies are soft.
Enjoy!
