New rings...

  • @orkan I am looking for some new rings to bring my scope down closer to the barrel. Unfortunately I already have the lowest 34mm rings from Burris and by my measurements from the base of the rings to the center of the rings it's 1.29". I figure these rings from Seekins (1" high) would do the trick. I measured the bottom of my scope to the barrel and it's about 1/3 in, so if I can use rings that are .25-.29" lower, should do the trick. What do you think about the ring choice? Do you have other suggestions?

I noticed a pair of rings, don't remember on who's gun, where the top 1/2 of the rear ring had a bubble level on it. I can't find that set, do you know which ones those are? I think I can use that bubble level to help me keep the gun level.

  • Seekins makes some good rings. Their interface doesn't get along with me because I have lots of 1/2" interface stuff... but otherwise well thought of.

Hawkins rings are good to go. Give Travis @tscustoms a call and he would likely be able to set you up. While you have him on the phone, get a rifle build started. :)

Seriously dude, Andy Hawkins is one of the guys that helps put together the local match I shoot at. I think he is here in the Springs. Very cool guy and damn fine shooter.

#5 guy is the one that started the match back in the summer of 2015
#1 guy is Andy, he helps Ryan come up with and setup the stages

  • @ramirojpc I noticed on your rifle that the (What I believe to be) the magnification ring was awfully close to your scope base.

Make sure that whatever you do there's still enough room so you can turn that freely and not scrape a finger.

  • My 40x has Hawkins rings on it with the bubble level on top. I like the bubble level on there and they are nice rings.

Yeah, I am also in the market for a throw lever. Made me think though, just measured and the knurley part of the mag rings is .8" from the scope ring. Thanks for the observation.

  • Yup, I meant more the picatinny rail. Just something I saw when looking at everyone's set up.

Crap, you are right, the pic rail is awfully close to the mag ring on the scope. Now I can better justify the throw lever :smirk:

  • Im not positive, but i think APA 34mm rings are about the lowest your going to find. They are a lot of cash but every thing that is any good in rifle shooting is also a lot of cash.
