So I don't know if anyone has any experience with one, but it features an 83x optical zoom for around $600
People do things like video tape the moon with it
Wild thought, for $600 that would beat a lot of spotting scopes, and would be nice for recording impacts, and taking pictures of stupid road hunters.
Mirage would still limit it, but I wonder how good the lenses would be.

This is an interesting concept and one I hadn't considered. I know there are limits to digital zoom...but seems to me like the limits of mirage will usually be far worse than the limits of digital zoom.
This is supposed to be the p900 at 600 yards.
There is an old thread about this exact camera on scout.

Well the 83x is supposed to be optical zoom then a little bit more digital after that.
Also @dddoo7 your video doesn't seem to work for me.

83x's OPTICAL is crazy. I didn't realize that.

With digital zoom it's 166x 😂
I guess the equivalent optical zoom lense for a DSLR costs a low price of $30,000+ and weighs 40lbs. (With presumably much much much better image quality)
