aka Copycat Cheeseburger Hamburger Helper
Ingredients:
1lb ground beef
1.5-2 cups milk
1/2 onion, minced
1 tablespoon butter
2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked (or your favorite noodle equivalent)
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 teaspoon oregano (basil or an Italian blend would work too)
3/4 teaspoon parsley
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
2 cups shredded cheese (a mixture of sharp, cheddar and for added spice pepper-jack would be great for this. Otherwise just use cheddar cheese)Directions:
Bring a pot of water to a boil, add your uncooked macaroni in. Cook until done. While the noodles are cooking, toss diced onions in a skillet and the tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Toss around in the butter for a bit, then add the ground burger. Cook until burger is thoroughly cooked. Drain the meat mixture, add the cooked and drained macaroni into the meat mixture. Add the cheese and pour milk over the top. Add your spices at this time. Cook over medium, stirring frequently until the cheese is completely melted. Turn the heat to low and simmer the mixture for a few minutes, allowing it to thicken, stirring occasionally, preventing it to stick to the bottom of the pan. Once thickened, enjoy with a slice of garlic toast or your choice of sides!Feel free to add some tomatoes, broccoli, bacon, or whatever else you wish to "spice up" the dish :) I had some cooked bacon I chopped and tossed in. It was really good :)
