Rare 40X on GB.

  • @rhyno

I have seen other us marked ones sell for under 1500. I don't know for sure...but I bet it is just a pretty one....and like you said the 700 trigger compatible doesn't hurt.

I saw one a few months ago sell for $1800...and I am still kinda wishing I had picked it up. It was a 700 style with scope base bedded into a manners T4 with jewel trigger. That is a lot of value for the $1800 especially considering that the stocks start at around $700. I already had the parts for mine when I saw that one or I would have bought it and had it converted to repeater.

  • @dddoo7 yea that would have been a good deal as well.

It's always interesting to see what rifles sell for.

  • Would this be a good time to mention what a dumbass I am... in that I once could have bought as many as I want for $700 each?

  • @orkan from the CMP?

That would have been nice haha.

Heck if Remington still made them that would be nice.

Speaking of that, they do have a lot more options on their website for 40x now.

  • @orkan

I felt quite foolish for passing up that tan repeater you sold a couple years ago. At the time I just thought that my CZ was everything I would ever need. It was not until I actually started shooting it that I found the inefficiencies of it.

  • @rhyno

If Remington still made them they would be 1 moa shooters if one was lucky. I don't believe it is the Remington brand that makes these 40x's shoot so well. I believe it is the 1950-60's American Craftsmanship that makes them shoot. That would mean that people would still be looking for the older models...it would just be harder to find them because they would be cluttered in among the 1000's of new ones.

  • @dddoo7 hmm not sure about that, the 40x is still a good gun. They're not factory guns like your off the shelf r700.

At least the few I've seen shot.

  • Just to close the loop, the Winchester 52-D sold for a tic less than $1400 which is just about exactly what I paid for the last two I bought at the Verein last year by the time the new owner pays shipping and transfer fees.

Timin' has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

This one ended already, so something happened lol.

Looks like I'm late to this party.

  • I stumbled on this, and thought, man and Orkan was upset he missed out on a bunch for $700 !

    This was back in 2009

  • Yeah, I bought a few of those barreled receivers and paired them with ptg bolts... and then sold them.

    Stupid.

Yea, wouldn't it be nice to have a few of them back at the same price. Wayne

  • @rimfire No joke. Doubt we'll ever see those days again my friend.

  • Here's an interesting rifle that has a neat history.

  • This one is reasonably priced and in rough enough shape that it might sell low. Looks interesting.

  • @dddoo7 it'll be interesting to see how high it goes compared to that last one.

Did all the USMC ones have that bottom metal? Seems a bit odd.

  • Wait do they all have bottom metal like that? I guess I never noticed it outside of the trigger guard.

  • Hmm. Now I have to go look at mine

I can see it going for about 1100. If it could be had for under a grand it could be a decent deal.

  • Just remember, if any of you buy that one, its an "A" model receiver and will need the tang cut to accept rem700 triggers w/safety.

  • Another early 40x us property marked.

Something to think about...but wouldn't stop ME from buying one if it sold at a decent price. I know people who can fix that problem.

Also, can a bottom safety trigger be used without modification to the rifle?

    Most often, yes.

  • 1hour left on this one still under 1k

I wasn't paying attention and lost by 10 dollars.

Ouch, well there's another ending soon.

Might go a little higher as it's U.S.M.C marked.

I got one nabbed the other day, so I'm not bidding on any.

  • @rhyno
I have a stiller sitting in the safe I'm just going to build.

Don't feel bad. Depending on how badly the other guy wanted it you could have lost it by hundreds.

  • @dddoo7
Yeah I'm not to worried more will always come up.

  • I don't know the guy and can't vouch for him...but here is one for sale.

  • $1845 for a standard barrel model? That's pretty high. I'd pass on that were I you fellas.

  • Here's a beauty she's gonna bring some money I think.

    http://www.gunbroker.com/item/621001248

  • Wow. I'd be afraid to take it out and shoot it.

  • Wow is right it didn't take long for it to break $3,000

  • Yeah, when collectors see a rifle like that, they get busy squishing competition right quick.

  • You can put it in a Leopard Seal skin case.

  • That is one beautiful piece of wood on that rifle. Sure is tempting.
