Welcome Prometheus Tool Corp!
-
Some of you may know the Prometheus Gen II powder dispenser already. Those of you that do not are most likely going to have your mouths hanging open in short order. The Prometheus is simply the most advanced powder measuring and dispensing system available today. I thoroughly enjoy mine and I know I'm not the only one that views it as the centerpiece of their handloading equipment.
We recently designed a website for Prometheus and now they also have a dedicated forum section here on Gunhive.
Have a look at their new website at www.prometheustoolcorp.com. It's still under construction, but you'll get the idea.
Please give a warm Gunhive welcome to my good friend Brand Cole, the inventor of the Prometheus!

Something else to add to the "Most Wanted" list...

You code a nice page Greg.
Self taught?
I see you are bringing on top tier companies for their product category.Any other companies coming on board?

There are some possibilities we're cultivating.

Greg, guys and gals, and fellow enthusiasts of this fascinating hobby.
I am proud to call Greg a great friend and appreciate his help in bringing my product more ' mainstream' with a web precense which is likely overdue.
I hope this forum will provide a FRIENDLY and CLASSY place for users to exchange info, potential new users to learn about the machine, and for me to provide some " behind the scenes tech updates".
The Prometheus is not for everybody, and at this stage I refuse to try to justify it, because you get it ( the whole Prometheus concept ) or you don't. It's expensive because it takes a couple weeks to build each unit... And I'm an anal-retentive mechanical engineer that simply started out to solve my own problem... Until a buddy saw it and said to me " glad you built this for me but should have made another for yourself"
I have avoided forums for years now because too often it resorts to a pissing match. Confident Greg and his guys will not allow this here. The intent is to provide a positive exchange of thoughts and ideas so we can ALL grow and learn and enjoy this hobby / obsession we are blessed / cursed with.

Woo Cool kids club!! I'm here now
-
Welcome @mikedinh987 !!
Obviously all the cool kids have a Prometheus!!!! ;)
-
Sweet baby Jesus......I want it...might have to sell the wife and a dog....but I will have one!
-
I love watching the videos of the machine in action.
Swiss clockwork in quality.Electronics are neat and amazing in their own way but delicate mechanical devices are artwork.

I am happy to report I am now on the list. It was great speaking with Brand.
-
Soon. Very soon!

how long is your lease...or did you buy outright?
Just curious as I have heard the earlier leases were 20 years...but the current ones are supposed to be shorter than that.
-
@dddoo7 We talked about doing the 3600 then 1500 buyout, based on the timing may just buy out right.
-
Well...I'm on the list.
-
Congratulations to both of you, that two year wait will be brutal.
-
quoted wait was 6-8 months. I am hoping to have it sooner than 2 years...but we will see.
-
Oh wow, that's not bad at all!
-
@dddoo7 Brand told me to call him mid Sept. He thought he would be very close at that time to finalize details and have it in the works.
-
I called brand per instructed. I need to call in 2 months getting closer yeah.. I feel like that ski jumper they used to show on wide world of sports ads. I am just wondering how close my current loads with a chargemaster will be with the Prometheus.
-
Brand called today to go through the details and powders. My paperwork is filled out and my $$ is on the way. Getting so much closer. It is starting to feel like Christmas.
-
I'm excited for you @tpk936 !! I still remember using mine for the first time. So awesome.
-
Your unit looks different than the one on the link. I remember watching a clip where you go straight from the powder measure and seat the bullet. No checking in between.
-
@martino1 I don't understand what you're saying. Try again plz.
-
You did a video and you used your promethius. Your unit looks different than the one on the link I just clicked on the Promehtius website for the new unit. Is that just the guts or is it the finished product on the website?
-
@orkan it is due to the conversation we had at lunch during shooting class. This is things that people do not post about the shooting training. The conversations that where taking place during the breaks where extremely beneficial. I was all jacked about the training and techniques, but your confidence in your loads due to loading equipment spoke volumes and helped me go the prometheus route.
-
@martino1 No... my machine is the same as what is shown on prometheus website aside from my funnel modification.
Just took this 20 seconds ago.
-
Are you talking about the platform that orkan's unit sits on?
-
I just want to touch the red button some day.

From the angle the clip I saw was shot i didn't see the powder hopper or the other stuff on top like the printed circuit or the gold part.
-
@orkan just got slobber all over my damn keyboard....
-
@oilfieldjosh Thats why I got the big dog stand for the prometheus. I don't figure on my drool puddle getting that high and shorting out the electronics. ;)
-
@orkan Dam now I need the big dog stand...
-
Today the Prometheus showed up at the office and when I got home the Big Dog Steel stand was delivered. Talk about a plan coming together. I take all down to the basement and start looking at my loading area and have come to the conclusion I need a new set up.

Sounds like a lot of work! Being the generous guy that I am, I will take the new units off of you, free of charge to save you the hassle 😀 In all seriousness, congrats on the new tools. I can’t even imagine how nice it would be to load rounds with it.
-
@tpk936 congrats!

I finally got everything set up and running last night. I played with the machine for about an hour. It is awesome and I measured the charge on all 3 of the charge-masters I have and got a different reading from each of them. I will say they gave me the same reading each time but none of them matched up to the prometheus. I will do some more playing tonight.

Now that you got the promethius you can use your chargemasters for cereal dispensers.
-
I'd go with cream of wheat. Cheerios might not meter well!
-
I am almost done setting up. Problem is now that the Prometheus is all set up I just want to get used to it. Loaded 15 rounds tonight hopefully will be at the range this weekend. I have some new 22 Creedmoor brass to shoot.
-
Welcome to to the green glow @tpk936
-
Ok it’s official I don’t like any of y’all anymore, the jealousy is taking over

Just hung up with Brand, and am seriously considering placing an order. This would be a pretty significant investment for me and I wanted to know if anybody that owns one has had any regrets in purchasing it or any problems out of the machine. Also how hard is it to change powder types, and what kind of maintenance is required?
-
@bull81 I have no, none zip. One of the best purchases I have made. For the calibers I have loaded with the Prometheus they are all more consistent. To see how 1 flake of powder can be measured is amazing. Not only is the machine this good but Brand is just one outstanding individual. Dealing with Brand has been a pleasure. The machine takes away any doubt with load consistency. Very simple to change powders. You learn how much to fill in the dispenser based on number of loads you are doing. As far as maintenance I will let someone that has had there's longer then me to chime in.
-
No regret what so ever.
I change cartridges so much that I got three tricklers, so I have one trickler for small kernel, one for large, and a vibratory for tiny powders.
Changing the trickler plate can be tedious if you do it 10 times a day, like I was. Easier to just swap a whole trickler.
... but yeah, I'd rather get shot in the back with a shotgun blast of rock salt than go back to using chargemasters for powder throwing.
Don't go thinking you can get that other digital scale auto-trickler/auto-thrower and be happy either. ... because you can't. I've told 3 people that, they didn't listen, went and bought one... and now they aren't happy and will be getting a prometheus. I said to them "Duh really?" lol
I'll have a second prometheus soon. ... because I'm a lazy bastard or because I shoot too much. Not sure which. The bottom line is that if you get a Prometheus, your powder concerns will be over, for the rest of your life.
-
@orkan thanks for the info I currently run a satorious 64 with the auto trickler and have had good results but it’s aggravating having to deal with the scale acting loopy sometimes. My two girls take up much of my time and so when I go to the bench I’d rather load than fiddle with a scale. When it’s working properly it’s faster than I am but when it’s not I don’t get much done. I just put my name one the list with Brandabout 20 minutes ago so now I wait
-
I’m one of the guys with an auto trickler. If the auto trickler did what they advertised I wouldn’t need the promethius. However between the electric scale issues like you said, and throwing one or two grains under or over most of the time, and then having to transfer the pan of powder to the case and potentially spilling. It is just way more trouble than the promethius. I just didn’t have the cash at the time so I went with the auto trickler. It wil be for sale as soon as my promethius is done.
