New Funnels

  • I already spent a few hundred on a complete kit of XHCG funnels... but I happened across these and it seems like it would be a fairly good option. If someone tries them out, be sure to report back with a review!

  • Okay so educate me on what makes these premium funnels so much better. What does a premium funnel do that, my Lee or RCBS funnel/tray combo does not.

  • Yup, been kind of watching these as he designed them on Facebook. Interesting for sure.

    I think they flow better
    They don't get dinged up
They sit on the cartridge nice especially on smalller calibers
    They don't have static issues.

The XHCG funnels vs the RCBS universal one I was using:

I had to pour powder really slow with the RCBS. Powder would tend to jam up in the RCBS if poured too quickly. Now, it doesn't matter if I'm loading .223AI or 6.5CM, it's pretty amazing how fast you can dump powder in those XHCG funnels.

XHCG funnels sit on cases without needing support or centering. While I still grab hold of the funnel when I dump the powder, there's a whole lot less thinking about it.

Static was a big thing for me, especially in the dry winter. I would often have 3 or 4 kernels of powder that would "stick" to the sides. I had to keep dryer sheets around and wipe the RCBS funnel with them before I could use it.

Sure in the end both do the same thing, get the powder in the case. The time and convenience involved made going to the XHCG funnels pretty easy. I was able to use them for a while, and then had to go BACK to the RCBS funnel. I was only able to get through 100rnds before I ordered up my set of XHCG funnels, and waited until they arrived to do anymore reloading.

I should also add that I can step on, toss around and set stuff on these funnels without worry of them cracking or breaking.

They also look and feel real good :smirk:

  • Looks like quality gear. I don't think I would like changing out the heads and it is much more expensive if I were to buy a funnel for each caliber. I will stick with the XHCG I think until they no longer serve my purpose or someone proves these are better.

I have been using the XHCG for about 3 years now and the only thing I wish for is a drop tube. This new set has it but does not justify getting a new setup. I might look at just the setup for 20 cal. The trays I do like and will get help on my anal retentive when I get an object under the case.
