Dash Camera


  • Hey guys, was curious if anyone has any experience with dash camera's.

    I've been thinking about getting one for sometime now but have been putting it off since I don't drive a whole lot, but with some trips coming up I figured now would be a good time to get one.

    I'm thinking about one too. My buddy has one. Small unobtrusive sits on his dash and plugs into the cigarette lighter. It turns on automatically when he starts the car and records to a USB. It records a loop of an hour or so and marks and saves files when you hit a button. His also has an accelerometer and auto saves a file if he breaks hard. So far the only times it has come in handy is when he dodges a deer in the road or passes by an accident. He brings in those files to show us. Records in HD and the files look nice. He has the sound recording turned off.

  • I have been considering this as well. I have seen many videos on YouTube where the dashcam was the only thing showing the driver was innocent.

  • So I've been doing a little research on this and I think one of the first things anyone will have to do is to decide what features you want.

    And there are a lot of features, for me the list so far is:

    HD camera
    Low profile
    Reliable
    Expandable memory
    Collision detection

    Some things that would be nice but not needed

    Parking mode
    GPS

    I would also like one for the front and one for the rear, so on the rear I wouldn't need gps.
